Abstract:
As educators, how do we encourage the development of 21st-century skills and a critical thinking mindset? How can we support learners to adopt a creative, collaborative approach while maintaining critical oversight of their learning process? This workshop will demonstrate how our courses achieve these ideals.
Description:
Key Concept: This workshop will showcase our instructional design and explore the following links to the learning experience:
- curriculum adaptation and screenwriting tools,
- purpose and design of interfaces,
- pedagogical strategies addressed.
This presentation will:
- Illustrate how CFORP Online courses are designed on the cascading inquiry approach which is based on engaging and authentic over-arching questions and tasks that are supported by a variety of interesting mini-challenges.
- Demonstrate how using an emotional design based on a UX and UI user-centric approach will keep the learner involved.
- Show how using a Flat Design with a Metro UI approach to these new online courses will be user-friendly in terms of information architecture: usability and emotional design and based on the Bootstrap Framework.
- Use examples to demonstrate how teachers are able to modify course content in the D2L editor while keeping the layout and design of the pages intact.
- Illustrate the integration of the Brightspace ePortolio tools inside the course design interface.
- Confirm the integration of accessibility standards AA and AAA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0).
