Student engagement and success in Math - through Competency Based Learning

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

Competency-based learning CAN be effectively and positively achieved through enhanced and engaging online content.  It can include visual feedback and guided corrective studies, intermingled with enhanced teacher intervention, directed specifically to the areas where a student has demonstrated they are having difficulty or, conversely, where they excel.

Competency-based learning can efficiently:

  • streamline enhanced students towards content that challenges them at their level and provides competency on new subjects; and
  • identify gaps in knowledge and coax struggling students through targeted smaller chunks of content that build towards concept competency, greatly enhancing their confidence.

This session will show how a competency-based course is not just about how fast a student can complete the course and get a grade but, more importantly, how they can achieve their highest possible engagement and success levels from the course and have the confidence to knowledgeably communicate and apply that new knowledge when working with others.
